1. Spring Day - in our school - some of these activities organized by Geography teacher are included in the wiki.

• Dialog between generations. Interactive experiments realized by the eight graders with the participation of the pupils from III A on the occasion of The World Water Day 22 March 2010 ,video, teacher Maria Dragoş and teacher Ana Puşcaş .

Major themes:

1. Knowing the mysterious properties of water.
2. Acknowledging the impact of human activities on Earth’s natural resources: water-in this case.

• Part I: Water and ice . Experiment: Magic flowers, Water Power and Ice Bell and discussions over the rise of the global sea level: With knowledge comes a responsibility to act . Climate change is everywhere.Today we are seeing the impacts of climate change around the globe - melting glaciers, rising sea levels, stronger storms, and higher floods, less snow north and more droughts south.
• Part II: Experiments: Volcano under water, Convection Currents, Density of water and discussions on changing oceans . The Atlantic Thermohaline circulation has a profound effect on the climate in several parts of the world. In a tipping scenario, an influx of the fresh water to the North Atlantic from increased precipitation and from the melting Greenland ice could cause a stuff-of of deep convection and North Atlantic Deep Water formation in the Labrador Sea … Impacts: - Harsher winters in northern Europe - Effects on other hydrological cycles, like monsoons and tropical rainforests
• Part III: Video-conference Poland-Romania: eTwinning, project Water Drops . Maria Dragos and the pupils of 3rd grade A collaborating with the 4 members-team from the 8th grade . They sang, recited in Romanian, English, Polish, conducted live experiments, exchanged impressions and finally danced guided by the same little water drop.

2. Spring Day in Europe - These activities are proposed within the EU and for them there is this website . Recently I came into that school-community, where I hope I will work as well as here.


3. 40th Anniversary of Earth Day
a) We planned to collect plastic - we each use different products are packaged in this material so we'll clean house and stored in special places all plastics are not needed at home.
b) With the arrival of Spring season, should take care of the school garden, which is a beautiful green space, even if it has a relatively small area.
c) A special lesson, after-school (details coming soon).

a) The first step on differentiate waste collection is the existence of special containers. Therefore, students must first know how to distinguis them:
- yellow - for plastic only
- blue - for paper
- green - for metal and glass (ops... both, toghether!)

As soon as possible we do with students practical action - plastic recycling, and we will post more photos.




In our city there are many such containers but people (and children, too) are only now learning to use them! Of course, children learn very quickly!



In our school too, we use appropriate containers for selective collection!

c) A special lesson dedicated to our planet day, is scheduled for Friday, 23.04.2010. Why a day later? Because....
......Friday in our school will be an event, part of a Comenius project, coordinated by our English teachers. We were invited to include our special Geography lesson in that event.

In this special lesson we will present more materials included in a wiki-site dedicated to our planet and we hope that our students will learn new things and will work on our website in the future.
